2007 PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE LINE AT SEASON FINALE IN POMONA

Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson Rider Andrew Hines Has Points Advantage MILWAUKEE (Oct. 30, 2007) Š It all comes down to this. This one race will decide the championship.

HINES DEFENDS LAS VEGAS PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE VICTORY; MAINTAINS COUNTDOWN POINTS LEAD

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 29, 2007) – Screamin' Eagle/Vance & Hines Motorsports rider Andrew Hines experienced a completely different feeling at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals on Sunday.

 Hines was calm.

The three-time defending NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle champion didn't have the usual butterflies normally associated with a big race weekend. As if the 15th of 16 Pro Stock Motorcycle events wasn't pressure-packed enough every other year, this season the stakes were much higher.

COUNTDOWN TO CHAMPIONSHIP HAS TWO STOPS BEFORE 2007 NHRA POWERADE CHAMPIONS ARE CROWNED

MILWAUKEE (Oct. 24, 2007) - Screamin' Eagle/Vance & Hines Motorsports rider Andrew Hines is taking the new NHRA points format all in stride. The three-time defending NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle champion doesn't exactly know what to expect in the last two events of the season, but he is comforted by one fact: none of his competitors do either.

Starting this year, NHRA has developed a playoff format for all professional categories. The top eight competitors in each professional category advanced to the second round starting with the Aug. 29 U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis. Both Screamin' Eagle factory riders Hines and Eddie Krawiec were in that group of eight.

AMA NEWS AND NOTES: November 2007
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) approved recommendations for motorcycle safety focusing on passage of mandatory helmet-use laws in all states, but did not deal with other significant issues related to the safety of riders on the road.
The recommendations, which do not carry the force of law, come a year after the NTSB held a public forum on motorcycle safety that gathered comments from motorcycle manufacturers, researchers, trauma physicians, law enforcement officials, insurance companies and motorcycle associations, including the AMA. Those groups expressed support for a wide range of motorcycle-safety initiatives, including campaigns against alcohol impairment, increased opportunities for rider education and stricter enforcement of licensing laws. In the end, though, the panel's final report focused almost exclusively on the helmet-law issue.

RICHMOND, Va., (Oct. 10, 2007) Š NHRA officials running the Winner's Circle at last weekend's Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals might have been confused when it came time to crown the winner of the Nitro Top Fuel category.

After all, Tommy Grimes had won each of the last four AHDRA exhibition events at NHRA races dating back to fall 2005. But this time was different.

Not only did Jay Turner beat Grimes in the second round, but he went on to win the race too.

Turner beat Phil Schmidt (6.628 seconds to 6.782) in the first round before topping Grimes (6.740 to 6.811) in the second round. He rode his Harley-Davidson to the win over Bill Furr in the final after Furr fouled at the starting line.

On any other night throughout the season, Joe Kopp's win would be reason enough to celebrate. The 2000 AMA Grand National champion finally put his Team Latus/Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson into the win column. It was the veteran's first win this season and 12th of his career.
