| 6 gets 66 |
 |
Even though he
swapped out his long-time competition number for the #6 plate this
season, his old number still carries significance for Rockstar
Makita Yoshimura Suzuki’s Mat Mladin, as he upped his career AMA
Superbike wins record to 66 on Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park.
His chief rival, reigning two-time series champ Ben Spies,
didn’t open the door by crashing out of contention as he did on
Saturday, but Mladin still managed to turn the race into a lopsided

The
American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) told a
Congressional committee in written comments on March 13 that
motorized recreation is a "legitimate and popular" use of
public land that needs more federal funding.
The topic of the subcommittee hearing was
"Impacts of Unmanaged Off-Road Vehicles on Federal Lands. AMA
Vice President of Government Relations Ed Moreland told the federal
lawmakers that recreation, like any other resource, must be managed.
Moreland also made a case for more funding for
federal agencies, such as the US Forest Service and Bureau of Land
Management, so that they can better manage motorized recreation. And
he noted that the motorized recreation community has taken proactive
steps, often in partnership with public land managers, to reinforce
its land-use ethic through rider education and public awareness.
Besides benefiting riders and the off-highway
vehicle industry, motorized recreation pumps funds into local
economies, Moreland added.

Supercross Lites |

returned to AMA Supercross Lites at Dallas’ Texas Stadium this
weekend after skipping the independent Toronto, Ontario, race last

Supercross Lites podium in Indianapolis and was hoping to

result was somewhat bittersweet, however. Izzi started the night
with an impressive second-place finish in his heat race, however,
a bout with food poisoning slowed the young rider in the 15-lap
main event. In spite of this, Izzi put his head down and
