Billy Lane
appeared on Friday, Feb. 2nd before Judge Meryl l. Allawas in Brevard
County
Court. A new docket sounding was scheduled for March 23rd at 9AM. A
docket
sounding is a proceeding where a judge assigns trial dates or takes
pleas.
Lane has been charged with DUI Manslaughter as the result of an accident
that occurred on Sept. 4, 2006. It's been alleged that Lane was under
the
influence when the Dodge pickup truck that he was driving struck and
killed
Gerald Morelock, who was riding a scooter at the time. According to
toxicology reports, both Lane and Morelock had alcohol levels that
exceeded
the state's legal limit of 0.08. Delores Morelock, Gerald's mother, has
also
filed a civil suit against Lane and has a hearing date scheduled for
Feb.
