Saxon Motorcycle Company Announces EU Type Approval

Casa Grande, AZ –March 20, 2007- Representatives of Saxon Motorcycles Europe proudly announced today that they have obtained the European Type approval, making all of their bikes “road legal” and allowing them to be licensed by dealers in every country of the European Union (EU) and Switzerland. Saxon Motorcycles Europe, founded in January 2006 by Frank Vermeulen and Rinke Andringa of the Netherlands, was created specifically to provide the European market with custom, American-style motorcycles.

E.U Type approval is a giant step for Saxon, a move reaffirming Saxon as a leader in the motorcycle industry and an addition to an already exciting year. So far in 2007 Saxon introduced the new model line to critical acclaim and most recently the Griffin Chopper won Production Chopper of the Year at the V-Twin expo.

“Obtaining European Type approval is a huge accomplishment for Saxon” said David Schwam, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Saxon Motorcycle Company USA. “The team at Saxon Europe has worked tirelessly to allow us to become one of the first American made production custom motorcycles available in Europe and we are convinced that they will do a great job of upholding our commitment to customer service and dealer support.”

“Obtaining approval in such a short period of time was a huge challenge. Not only did we need to demonstrate that our bikes were in conformity with strict European standards on safety, emissions and sound, but that we had the infrastructure in place to properly support our customers and dealers” said Frank Vermeulen. “We’re very pleased that we were able to obtain approval and make our line-up available in our dealers showrooms this selling season” Frank added.

The Type approval has been granted for two European models, the Warlord, a rebellious US High-neck Chopper, and the Firestorm, a long and low Pro-street. This is one of the first steps that Saxon is taking to ensure its position domestically and internationally. Both models come standard with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty, 96” (1573cc) S&S engine, 260 rear tire, right side drive transmission and softail-frame. “The bikes not only look great, but they’re extremely comfortable and well balanced,” said Rinke Andringa. At this point there is no other production custom motorcycle company that has received such a high approval rating throughout the EU.
