Hello All. Well the 2007 Flattrack season is getting ready to hit
high gear in the Roeder Racing Camp. There hasn't been much to
report in the last 8 weeks since Daytona, but things will be picking
up now that we are into May and getting ready for the Memorial Weekend
Springfield Mile.
Daytona was a little different for Jess this year as he split duties
with the dirt-track at Savannah and the pavement at Daytona
International Speedway. The highlight was Saturday where Jess had to
ride a sort of qualifying event to be able to ride Sunday's Moto-ST
Endurance race aboard his Hoban Bros Racing Buell Lightening.
Jess finished in 2nd place as a last lap draft attempt didn't work and
was just inches short at the finish line. This was a real confidence
builder since Jess hadn't been on a Road-Race bike in a few years and
the has never competed on the new track layout that was implemented
for safety two years ago.
The following day Jess was teamed up with Jeffrey Johnson, 2002
Thunderbike National Champ, for the Moto-ST endurance final. Both
riders were at pace and looking to have a top finish when the motor
expired around lap 30. That put an end to pretty good weekend of
racing. Look forward to seeing more of Jess this Fall at Daytona at
the annual "Biketober Fest" in October.
For the past few weeks Jess has been participating in some test
sessions to dial in the XR750s that he is preparing with the help of
his brother Geo this year. This will be part of the effort to run the
team "In House" and be better prepared for the upcoming AMA
Ford Quality Checked Pre-owned Flattrack Series. We will hopefully
have a couple pictures of the test days and pass them along soon. We
hope to see some of you in Springfield!
