Ward Looking To Stay Consistent at Raceway Park

June 01, 2007

AMA Racing news

The second round of the 2007 AMA Supermoto Championship gets underway Sunday, June 3, at Englishtown (N.J.) Raceway Park. This event expects to draw an enthusiastic crowd as top racers come to town for this inaugural race.

Troy Lee Designs Honda rider Jeff Ward comes into Englishtown with a three-point lead over Husqvarna's Adrien Chareyre. "Last week in St. Louis I felt really good in the dirt section, I was lucky that I was able to make up time there," explained Ward about his success in the opening round. "I want to be consistent all season. The win in St Louis and this whole season I am dedicating to one of my good friends, Doug Henry. We miss him and we are all pulling for him."  Henry, a multi-time AMA Champion was injured in a pre-season crash.

In St. Louis, the top five riders in the AMA Supermoto class all finished within five seconds of each other. Every second counts in AMA Supermoto racing and with parity in the sport's featured class, fans can expect great racing all season long.

At the first round, the M&R Supermoto Unlimited class saw Aprilia's Ben Carlson dominate the competition en route to first-ever win in North America for the Italian motorcycle manufacturer.

The season opener for the Hot Wheels Supermoto Lites class showcased some of the weekend's best racing between Graves Motorsports Yamaha rider, Brandon Currie and Troy Lee Designs Honda rider David Pingree. The two riders battled for a majority of the race, remaining within a bike length of each other, but an eventual mistake by Pingree handed Currie the win.

On June 1, Freehold Honda, New Jersey's number one volume Honda Motorcycle dealer, will be hosting a meet and greet autograph signing with the Troy Lee Designs Honda Supermoto racing team. Riders Jeff Ward, Cassidy Anderson and David Pingree are scheduled to appear between 5 and 6 p.m.
