Infineon Raceway will take its pledge to help feed those in need this
holiday season to its world-famous quarter-mile drag strip for the 7th
annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.
The raceway has hosted an extremely popular and successful
grass-roots drag racing program since 1989, and the program will serve
as the focal point of this year’s food drive.
Infineon Raceway will take its call for non-perishable food items to
the year’s final round of California Army National Guard Wednesday
Night Drags on Wednesday, Nov. 7. As a one-time special offer, any
person who brings at least four non-perishable food items that night
will receive a $10 voucher towards one Wednesday Night Drags admission
in 2008.
In addition, the raceway will look to expand the reach of this
year’s drive by donating the collected food to two community
organizations: Friends in Sonoma Helping (FISH) in Sonoma and the Napa
Valley Food Bank. Mary’s Pizza Shack and Destination RKA will
once again partner with the raceway on this event. The raceway and its
partners have generated more than 9,000 pounds of non-perishable food
items since the inception of the drive in 2000, and expectations are
high for 2007.
To kick-off the food drive, representatives from FISH and the Napa
Valley Food Bank will square off in an exciting drag-race competition on
Nov. 7. The winning organization will receive a gift card
compliments of Lucky grocery stores.
The public is also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to
the raceway during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5
p.m.) from Nov. 1 – Nov. 16. The raceway is located at 29355
Arnold Dr., Sonoma, CA 95476 (800-870-RACE or www.infineonraceway.com
for directions).
