LAS VEGAS
BIKEFEST™ TAKES SIN CITY BY STORM
Sixth
Annual Motorcycle Rally Breaks Attendance Records with Over 35,000
Attendees from All Over the World
LAS
VEGAS (October 3, 2006) – A
record breaking 35,111 bikers from all over the world took over the
streets of Vegas September 14-17 for the sixth annual Las Vegas BikeFest.
The four-day event returned to Sin City, featuring some of the
world’s most talented custom motorcycle builders, scenic poker runs,
exciting entertainment at the downtown’s Cashman Center and Fremont
Street Experience and more than 300 leading manufacturers and distributors
of motorcycles, parts, accessories and apparel, making it arguably the
biggest event to date, according to Harry Schwartz, president of Full
Throttle Events, one of Las Vegas BikeFest’s partners.
“Las
Vegas BikeFest has earned a reputation as one of the top motorcycle events
in the world, and this year’s event was no exception” said Schwartz.
“More than 35,000 people from all over the globe rallied to
experience the thrill and energy of biker culture that only Las Vegas
BikeFest can provide. With
Las Vegas as the backdrop and the beautiful bikes and eclectic people on
display, there is no wonder we break attendance records year after
year.”
For
the third year in a row, the Artistry
in Iron invitational master builders competition featured
eye-catching, custom bike designs from the sublime to the outrageous. Winning the peer-judged competition and taking home the
$20,000 prize was Greg Westbury, defeating 20 of the world’s most
talented custom bike builders including Mitch Bergeron, Paul Yaffe, Gard
Hollinger and two-time Artistry in
Iron winner Roger Goldammer. Westbury
amazed his fellow builders and onlookers with his progressive custom
design.
New
to this year’s Las Vegas BikeFest was the Metric Revolution Biker
Build-off, featuring 22 of the country’s hottest sportbike and cruiser
builders. The custom metrics
were on display at the Fremont Street Experience as thousands of onlookers
stopped to stare at the “rolling works of art.”
The competition was taped for the season finale of Metric TV’s Metric Revolution, the first all metric biker build-off competition
for television.
Other
key highlights included the fan-favorite Mr. and Miss BikeFest
competitions, during which Bruce Kramer of Westminster, Calif. and Amanda
Kendall of Oxnard, Calif. were crowned as the hottest bodies at the show.
Additional crowd-pleasers, Cameron Belles of Bakersfield, Calif.,
took home the title as World’s Strongest Biker and Carolina Roland of
Las Vegas, Nev. won the Ultimate Bikini Contest.
The winner of the Friday Poker Run was Jinx Guide of Temecula,
Calif., who was awarded an Overbilt Sport Loader from Blue Ox and a $1,000
grand prize for her winning hand while Tafi Lynn Hernandez of Simi Valley,
Calif. won the Saturday Poker Run and pocketed the $2,000 grand prize. Musical
entertainment throughout the weekend included live concerts by Branscombe
Richmond and the Renegade Posse, Missing Persons and RATT.
Plans
for the 2007 Las Vegas BikeFest are already in the works, with the dates
for the event set for September 13-16, announced Schwartz.
