HARLEY
OWNERS GROUP ANNOUNCES ACTIVITIES FOR 2007 ANNUAL RALLY
Knoxville,
Tennessee, Will Host CLUB H.O.G. Down Home: 24th Annual Rally
MILWAUKEE,
Wis. (November 10, 2006) – Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) is excited to
announce that Knoxville, Tenn., is the site of CLUB H.O.G. Down Home: 24th
Annual Rally, which will take place at Knoxville’s Chilhowee Park,
August 24-25, 2007.
Nestled
among four national parks, Knoxville offers memorable roads and
breathtaking scenery. This “Gateway to the Smokies” will welcome H.O.G.
members from across the country and the world as they experience all the
natural beauty the Knoxville area has to offer, including Great Smoky
Mountains National Park, located 35 miles southeast of the city.
“We
can’t wait to welcome H.O.G. riders from around the country to Knoxville
for the 2007 National H.O.G. Rally,” said Gloria Ray, President and CEO
of the Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corporation. “It’s a great
opportunity to showcase our city of Knoxville and all that we have to
offer.”
Multi-platinum
and award-winning country duo Montgomery Gentry will kick-start CLUB H.O.G.
Down Home by performing on the Harley Stage at Chilhowee Park on Friday,
August 24. Their recently released album, Some
People Change, reflects their world of blue-collar anthems and
the importance of family, religion and patriotism. Eddie Montgomery and
Troy Gentry recently participated in the 2006 USO (United Service
Organizations) tour, where they visited and performed for troops in
Kuwait, Iraq and Germany.
“Once
you experience all the incredible riding and unsurpassed beauty this area
has to offer, you’ll come back again and again,” said David Brown,
General Manager of Knoxville Harley-Davidson. “We’re looking forward
to welcoming all National H.O.G. members to the great city of Knoxville
for some premiere down home Southern hospitality.”
Although
most of the scheduled events are for registered H.O.G. member event
attendees only, there will be plenty of fun and southern hospitality to go
around. The local community is invited to attend Smoky
Mountain Shindig: Where the H.O.G. meets the Dragon on Thursday, August
23, at Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson & Buell in Maryville.
“We
are thrilled that Harley-Davidson chose Knoxville for the 2007 National
H.O.G. Rally,” said Scott Maddux, owner and general manager of Smoky
Mountain Harley-Davidson & Buell. “East Tennessee offers the best
motorcycle riding east of the Rockies. Down Home is also the appropriate
theme because this region’s down home southern hospitality is second to
none.”
The
public is also invited to
visit the newly re-designed Harley-Davidson Traveling Museum, and take
part in free Harley-Davidson and Buell demo rides at the
rally site Friday and Saturday. On Saturday morning viewers can cheer for
the motorcycles during the Chapter Parade of Flags. That
night, the community is invited to attend two dealership events: Knox
Rocks Down Home H.O.G. Fest hosted by Knoxville Harley-Davidson &
Buell as well as Down Home at the Shed hosted by Smoky Mountain
Harley-Davidson & Buell in Maryville.
“Steeped
in Americana and smoky mountain lore, Knoxville and the Great
Smoky Mountains offer some of the
best motorcycle riding in the country,” said Joe Dowd, manager of the
H.O.G. Event Team. “Our members should plan on arriving early and
staying late so they can take advantage of the many exciting adventures
this spectacular area has to offer.”
Pre-registration
for H.O.G. members and one guest per member begins April 4, 2007, and the
pre-registration fee is $15 plus $5 shipping and handling. Registration
includes a commemorative pin. Capacity is unlimited. For additional
information, H.O.G. members can visit www.members.hog.com
(member only site). Scheduled events are subject to change.
