Rumors
Abound as
Vinnie Leaves OCC
Monster Commentary
In mid August Vinnie Dimartino talented builder and fabricator for Orange County Choppers resigned his employment and position at OCC and on the popular TV show American Chopper. Amid questions and speculation, immediately after his departure, Dimartino remained low key and respectful of his previous employer. Soon after the split, he said he was pursuing other opportunities.
On the final episode for Vinnie that aired in October, the final scene with Paul Sr. and Vinnie seemed cool and strained to most viewers and rumors of discontent ran wild. Other comments during that episode from the Teutles about how everyone is replaceable also annoyed and flamed the fire for many “Vinnie” OCC fans.
Biker blogs exploded and hundreds of sites speculated on whether Vinnie left because of money issues, a major fallout with the Teutles or just to get out of the storm surrounding the incredible success of Orange County Choppers and the American Chopper TV show phenomenon. Supporters of Vinnie and his work ethic depicted on the show speculated that Vinnie might have been tired of carrying the work load while the Teutles were carrying the money.
Vinnie has now come out publicly and said that he is starting his own venture with Cody Connelly. Cody Connelly was also a regular at OCC and served as an apprentice type position with the company since high school. Recently V-Force customs has been formed in Rock Tavern N.Y. near OCC with Vinnie and Cody teaming up to do what they do best, build motorcycles. At their new site
www.vforcecustoms.com both Dimartino and Connelly outline their climb to fame and seem respectful and appreciative of their opportunity at their previous employer. Odd to this reporter is that no where on their site do they mention OCC or American Chopper. They speak of working for a small custom bike shop and small local bike shop but never mention the
Teutles, American Chopper or Orange County. They do mention Discovery and a reality show and also seem thankful for the opportunity.
In the Monster’s opinion, and to Vinnie’s credit, these VFORCE web bios of Vinnie and Cody , “wreak of legal experts red pencils” with carefully worded comments crafted to avoid litigation. It looks like Vinnie had enough of
“Teutle World” and now has the good sense to avoid crossing swords with the OCC financial juggernaut.
As the speculation grows of what VFORCE and the Vinnie and Cody team might achieve on their own, it wouldn’t be the first time a spin off was born from a successful TV production. The cool split with the
Teutles, the proven popularity of the Vinnie character and the contacts with all the right players make most informed sources say stay tuned for the pilot. Mums the word officially but the good money and informed sources say Vinnie is already involved in serious talks about his own TV show.
Go “get em” Vinnie, time to live your own dream and carry some of the cash too.
