MotoGP Autographed Helmets To Be Auctioned For Charity

Helmets Signed by Top Racing Stars to Benefit AIDS Charity

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 24, 2006 - Two exclusive Arai Corsair helmets signed by some of motorcycle racing’s top stars will be auctioned off during September to benefit a variety of AIDS-related charities. The eBay auction, which will include nearly 200 items in all, is part of the Macy’s Passport 2006 fashion shows in San Francisco, Sept. 20-21, and on Sept. 28 in Santa Monica, Calif. Since 1988, the Passport events have raised nearly $22 million for HIV/AIDS research, care, prevention and education.

New items will be listed on eBay every few days throughout September. For more information about Macy’s Passport 2006, and a preview, visit www.ebay.com/macyspassport and scroll down. The two aluminum silver helmets are one large and one medium Arai RX-7 Corsair, both with a manufacturer suggested retail price of $619. Discover Today's Motorcycling (www.motorcycles.org) arranged to have these helmets signed by the following riders at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, during the premiere of the new MotoGP documentary "The Doctor, the Tornado and the Kentucky Kid."

Signed by:

#69 Nicky Hayden, the "Kentucky Kid" - 2002 AMA Superbike Champion, Respol Honda team rider and leader of the 2006 MotoGP point standings as of Aug. 20.

#5 Colin Edwards, the "Texas Tornado" - Camel Yamaha Team MotoGP rider and two-time World Superbike Champion.

#21 John Hopkins - MotoGP lead rider for Rizla Suzuki, from California.

#56 Shinya Nakano - MotoGP lead rider for Team Kawasaki, from Japan.

#27 Casey Stoner - Rookie MotoGP rider for LCR Honda, from Australia, and already a front-runner.

#15 Sete Gibernau - Factory rider for the Ducati MotoGP Team, from Spain.

#95 Roger Hayden - Kawasaki Racing Team rider in the AMA Superbike Championship, and Nicky Hayden's younger brother.

Randy Mamola - Former 500cc Grand Prix factory rider, and runner-up in the championship four times, the California native now pilots the two-seat Ducati MotoGP demo bike.

The Arai RX-7 Corsair is one of the most technologically advanced pieces of head protection ever made. Worn by Americans Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards in the MotoGP series, the super-light and very comfortable Corsair is the latest in top-line kit for racing champions. Both autographed helmets come with an acrylic display case.

As part of its ongoing efforts to keep motorcycles in front of the fashion world, DTM also is providing Macy's with four motorcycles for display at both Passport events. And to further benefit the charities, San Francisco Passport guests can participate in a live auction on Sept. 20 to win either a Honda Shadow VLX, Kawasaki Ninja 500R, Suzuki DR-Z400S or Yamaha Morphous scooter, along with a complimentary Motorcycle Safety Foundation RiderCourse, plus two tickets for the AMA Supercross in San Francisco next year.
