IN ITS FIFTH YEAR SUPPORTING BIKERS IN THE PARK
EVENT HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTOR COMPANY GOES FULL THROTTLE DURING DAYTONA BIKE
WEEK
MILWAUKEE (March 25, 2008) - Participants at this
year’s “Bikers in the Park” event at Daisy Stocking Park during
Daytona Bike Week are just now winding down after going full-throttle at
the Harley-Davidson Experience. Participants enjoyed a list of
activities such as a tribute to African Americans in motorcycling,
Harley-Davidson’s “Hot Model” competition and a free performance by
hip hop legend, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run DMC.
“We are so thrilled to have had the opportunity
to participate in another successful year as we interacted with the many
Harley-Davidson owners and enthusiasts during Bikers in the Park.
This was a great event and we look forward to participating at future
events,” said Lynn Bonner, Market Outreach Director, Harley-Davidson.
The highlight of the week’s events occurred
during the Harley-Davidson “Hot Model” competition where contestants
from all across the nation strutted their stuff on the catwalk to become a
“Hot Model” finalist. All finalists from the various “Hot
Model” events Harley-Davidson will conduct this year will be flown to
Milwaukee for the ultimate “Hot Model” competition during the Motor
Company’s 105th Anniversary celebration in August. The winners of the
“Hot Model” competition will be featured in an upcoming
Harley-Davidson catalogue. Winners from the Bikers in the Park “Hot
Model” competition are Lorraine Peterson from Irmo, North Carolina and
Patrick Brinkley from Lewisville, Texas.
For many years “Hot Model” winner Lorraine
Peterson was told she should be a model because of her height and stature.
”You never know what life has in store for you. To be a mother and a
grandmother and be selected to compete in the final “Hot Model”
competition at Harley-Davidson’s 105th Anniversary is like a dream come
true,” said Peterson, “This experience will give me a great story to
tell my grandchildren for many years to come.”
Winner Patrick Brinkley wooed the crowd with his
moves and said, “The opportunity to go to Harley-Davidson’s 105th
Anniversary is going to be amazing!”
Harley-Davidson also brought the weeklong
celebration to an old school ending by enlisting hip-hop legend DMC of Run
DMC, to perform for the hundreds of people in attendance. DMC rocked the
house with hits that brought back nostalgia and old school flavor. |
