Revisions announced for 2008 AMA Sports
Road Race Grand Championships
PICKERINGTON, Ohio--The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced
revisions to the rules package for the 2008 AMA Sports Road Race Grand
Championships, set for September 19-21 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
in Lexington, Ohio. Changes include a different class structure, different
class groupings, allowing minors 16 and older to compete and restricting
entry to expert-ranked riders only.
"Following our announcement of improvements to this year's program,
designed to offer additional track time, more value and easier signup,
competitor feedback suggested additional changes to make the event even
better this year," said AMA Racing Senior Director Bryan Cohn.
"These new changes reflect our desire to offer the best possible
racing experience we can."

Riders can expect as much as 1 hour, 55 minutes, of track time during the
two race days of the event for each class they enter. In addition, a
Friday practice will offer additional sessions, allowing for up to three
times the track time compared to previous years. Combined with the
elimination of gate fees this year, the 2008 AMA Sports Road Race Grand
Championships is one of the best values in road racing.
