ESLICK PUTS BUELL
1125R ON DAYTONA 200 FRONT ROW
Edged out in Superpole by just 0.112
second
East Troy, Wis. (March 6, 2009) Danny Eslick put the No. 9 Bruce Rossmeyer's Daytona Racing/RMR Buell 1125R on the front row for the start of tonight's Daytona 200 with a thrilling 1:50.342-second lap during Superpole qualifying Thursday night at Daytona International Speedway.
Eslick will start ahead of 72 other riders alongside Graves Yamaha's 2008 AMA Supersport champion Ben Bostrom, who edged out Eslick by just 0.112 second to claim the pole position and the prize of a new Rolex watch with a 1.50.240-second lap on the final lap of the evening shootout-style Superpole session.
"I had no real big moments in the run except riding a wheelie out of the chicane on the first little part of the flyer, and I think that hurt me a little bit," Eslick said. "The lap itself was fairly uneventful and it's good for the Bruce Rossmeyer/RMR Buell to be on the front row. We are super confident and tested here a little bit last weekend, we haven't had any issues on my bike and I'm looking forward to 57 solid laps and being there at the end of the race and having good clean pit stops."
Eslick's teammate Michael Barnes, who recorded a 1.50.661-second lap in Thursday afternoon's basic qualifying session, will start 12th on the Geico Powersports/RMR Buell. Other Buells entered in the Daytona 200 include Shawn Higbee (Bartels' H-D/Buell), Bryan Bemisderfer (H-D/Buell of Frederick) and Josh Bryan (Latus H-D/Buell), and Alan Schmidt (Latus H-D/Buell). The Daytona 200 by Honda airs live on SPEED TV tonight at 8 pm EST.
